The Sonnet Structure

A Shakespearean sonnet is written in iambic pentameter and consists of three quatrains and a final couplet. The rhyme scheme is abab cdcd efef gg. Shakespeare's sonnets are a collection of 154 poems that deal with themes such as the passage of time, love, beauty and mortality.
